Let Me In Video Shoot
Submitted by JessikaI had gotten an email on Thursday June 28 from the street network (a street team website) but I didn't read it until Friday morning. It was about the shoot and it said space was very limited so I figured I wouldn't get in. But, I figured it wouldn't hurt to send it any anyways. So I had to send them my picture and age and I was like 'It'd be really cool to get in, but I don't want to get my hopes up cause im probably too late.' So I went on the rest of the day until about lunch time and I had a missed call on my phone, and it was someone telling me I was accepted! So, to cut out boring stuff I got all ready and the next day I got up early cause I had spent the night at a friends doing a 'girls night.'
I got home from being out and about at about 2pm. I got all packed and I had to leave my house at 5:30pm to get to L.A. in time to beat traffic and everything because it takes me around 2 hours to get there. Its 100-something miles to get to LA from Palm Desert and its not that bad a drive, just straight freeway. No ramps or anything to change onto. I only hit traffic once and that was right when I got into LA.
I had already driven by the shoot before I realized I passed it, and I had to park about a block away from the shoot because there wasn't any closer parking. The first thing I saw was a fire truck-which I had driven by and wondered why it was there,--just to find out it was for us! There was a bunch of 'important' looking people outside and I wasn't sure where to go. I said bye to my dad (who was nice enough to go with me to watch my car and keep me from falling asleep driving on the way home!) and went inside. They told me to go downstairs where some guys gave me a clipboard with a paper to fill out and sign. It was about 8:15 and there were only bout 10-15 people I believe at that time. We just kind of sat there while people filled in and waited around 'till someone told us what to do. All in all, (I could be totally wrong) but there was like 30 maybe 40 max of us there.
Finally they had us go outside in the back and we waited out there for a long time and then they had us go back outside in the front of the building. They told us we were to line up like if we were waiting to get inside to go see their concert. I really cant say what the video is about all too much because we didn't get to see a lot of it. They took a group inside and the rest waited outside in line a longgg time. The ones of us outside had the crowd in line Steve comes up through the crowd and the bouncer wont let him in. Luke and his girlfriend come in and stuff happens inside but im not sure which. And then we did the concert scene. Steve sings and goes through the crowd as if hes holding the camera and goes and lays down on a bench/table. I couldn't tell really what it was.
Anyways, when I was standing outside in the line, the producer Rob, was staring at me. I was kinda scared I was going to get into trouble because my shirt had some words on it and we weren't supposed to wear anything with words (but it was all I had lol). So I thought he was going to tell me to change or I couldn't be in the video or something. He was staring and then he moved and stared at me from somewhere else and then he went back to the first spot and did it again. I was like ahh please don't get me in trouble lol. So finally he walks away and then a few minutes later some guy comes up to me and says 'can you come here?' and I was like 'oh no!!' So I go over there and he asks if im a big huge fan and I said sure and so he said me and this guy John were to be like crazy obsessed fans. Or like heads of the fan club and we were to stand on the side and when Luke and his girlfriend walk by, John was supposed to nudge me and when Luke got right next to me I was to take a picture right in his face. So I was like 'cool I have my own little role!!!'
It was really fun. We did that shot like 15 times give or take a few and so I took a whole bunch of pix like that. I met this guy named Matt also who did the behind the scenes footage that will be released soon (as their myspace states). He does a lot of the behind the scenes/making the video stuff for Warner Records, whom he works for. He was really cool. Matt even let me and John watch some of the video footage on the live feed on his cam. I saw the shot a few times with me in it and some of them you couldn't tell it was me. You could only see my shirt and sometimes hardly any of me. That's ok if im not totally visible in it cause its not about me anyway and it was just a great experience to be there. So the theme was basically the concert I guess with just weird scenes going on. Oh yeah, when Steve is coming up from the line, a guy walks out chasing his girlfriend (I guess that's what shes supposed to be) saying 'Where are you going??" and she just walks off mad. And while that's going on, Luke and his girlfriend start to walk by. I felt really retarded doing the shot so many times cause I felt like I was doing retarded looks trying to be all crazy excited lol. It was fun tho!
I was there from 8:15pm until about 3:15am the next morning. I was one of the earliest people that got there and one of the last to leave. We didn't have to learn the song we just had to stand there mostly and act like we were rockin out to the show (which we were kinda anyhow). Most of the people had left by the time I even noticed what time it was. I met this girl there (who is now my friend!) Andrea, and we were just chillin watching things go on and talking when we realized everyone else except maybe 8 or so of us had left already. And then Steve came over and was like "Did they tell you you guys could go home?" and we were just like yeah we like hanging around and he was like that's cool. My dads cell died so I had to leave then cause he was outside waiting for me I guess. Some people came and told me it was werid lol. Them all asking everyone 'whats your name' and then when they asked me they said my last name in a question form and I was like yeah that's me. And they were like 'your dads waiting outside.' I was all embaressed lol. A 20yr old (now 21) has her dad waiting for her lol. Oh well!
The whole time I was scared to take out my camera because I didn't want anyone to tell me to stop or delete the pictures cause maybe they'd think I was stealing the stuff (im paranoid) so I hid it most of the time. Then I had noticed while we were outside doing the whole line thing still that other people were taking pix with Steve so I got a little brave and took a few pictures. I took one with Steve, Andrea, and I and one with just Steve and I. It's a cute picture. I took a couple pix inside as well but not too many (cause I was chicken!)
Steve was really nice tho and so was Luke. I had told him sorry for taking so many pix in his face cause of the flash and he was like 'its cool' lol. It was really cool just to be there and meet a few of the band members and meet Matt and Andrea and Rob. Oh and Oscar was awesome too! He runs HHH's myspace I guess and he was really nice.
I cant really think of anything else of much importance. I have all the pictures up on mymyspace, www.myspace.com/freakishkittie. Also, the picture with Andrea, Steve, and I is on HHH's myspace in their pictures section and on the slide show on their front page. I also got to keep the disposable camera that they gave me for the video and I just developed it so those pictures are going to be up soon (they might be up by the time you read this). Most of them are horrible cause I wasnt looking thru the thing i was just snapping real quick but there's some good ones. I was also a super huge dork and when we were there, everyone working there was passing out water and red bulls. Well, jokingly I said I was going to save my water bottle and write "Hot Hot Heat 'Let Me In' Video Shoot, 6/30/07" cause at that time John and I were the only ones that got anything. We had a bit of special attention for awhile :D And so yeah...I did write it and keep it!! lol. SO theres a picture of that too lol.
